Illegal Aliens

The topic of illegal immigration is a big issue with lawmakers and people in Congress, especially now on election time. Generally speaking, illegal immigrants are primarily people from Mexico, Central and South America, who enter the United States illegally to make money and help support their families here and abroad. We live in a very difficult times and people from other countries are fleeing from poverty, oppression, stricken by pains and pressures caused by chronic unemployment, homelessness, poverty, hopelessness, lack of education, low-paying jobs, hunger and little or no opportunities in their homelands. Others in the pool of illegals are people who entered the country legally but became illegal or "out of status" by virtue of overstaying their visas. Current immigration laws stand between their desire to live in and the ability to work in the United States. In the meantime, people continue to be uncertain about the consequences of massive illegal settlements in the country. The massive flow of illegal immigrants has caused individual States to face tough issues. States are affected by financial burdens imposed on tax-based services. Do illegal immigrants cost more than they contribute? Should the illegal aliens be blamed and penalized by the courts of public opinion for trying to have a better life? What about legal immigrants and citizens who also face the same economic woes? Don't we have a moral obligation to take care of our own citizens and legal residents first? Every day, there are American citizens who have no place to call home and many are hungry and exposed to drugs and violence. Shouldn't these come first?

The sickness of it is that American families do not get the same treatment as illegals or immigrants.
The whole families (Mom+Dad) get discriminated against when falling on hard times due to whatever reason. They are the ones that can not obtain welfare or social assistance. If they actually have a home or a car at all!

Thing is that Americans should be considered for public assistance FIRST! We are in no position in this country, in this economically hard time to extend the help and money to illegals or immigrants.

If a family that includes a Dad fall on hard times they won't qualify for assistance. They will be considered as making too much money let alone the fact that what is made is not enough. For having a car, even a piece of junk you can be denied. However, what? Should they divorce so that the Mom can receive assistance? Should they sell their only car so they can make the quota and not get to work at all?

This country's assistance programs are nuts. Any system meant to help its CITIZENS does society no good if it favors illegals and immigrants- and the splitting of families.

Those that happen to need a little helping hand while still WORKING should be given favor. Not those that cross the border and give birth. Those families that have unforeseen problems and need help should not be cast aside from the welfare program because they have a car. They need that car to WORK.

It just disgusts me to no end. Illegals often get the upper hand in this country while the citizens have to deal with them. Not only that but the slap in the face! Citizens pay their taxes but yet get rejected from receiving any help from those taxes when they need it.

I think that the burden is far greater than the gain from illegals. When you think of all the money spent on them for their health care, welfare, food stamps etc.... they leave us with a pretty hefty bill! The money they make with their jobs they send OUT of the country so not really helping in local economy either. I can't believe that they give us all that much except for cheaper labor from the pockets of employers. I reject the idea that Americans in need would not work those jobs. That can easily be rectified by forcing those legals who got into welfare who do not work or bother to; give time at those jobs in order to earn their welfare. How about that?
